Meaningful Work
Tuesday, August 12, 2008
I'm going back to work at Givens Estates, the United Methodist Retirement Community in Asheville which I left at the end of May in expectation of going quickly from there to Wake Forest for the bone marrow transplant. I'll be working twenty hours per week, doing pastoral ministry only rather than the combined work with programming. I begin again at Givens on August 22. Also I'm making plans to return to my spiritual direction practice at home, beginning in September. Both of these opportunities are gifts of meaningful work. The next post is a portion of my letter to those who had been coming for spiritual guidance. It says more about my joy at returning to spiritual direction, both as a guide and as a receiver.
